I went back to my hometown

To see who I still knew

I was so afraid of what they would think

When they’d seen what I turned into

I saw them laughing in the corner

I heard them talk behind my back

Then I shrugged it off and pretended it didn’t hurt

I swear I’m never going back

I know I’m never going back

I’d give all I got if I could just be

The man that I was till the end

I went back to my hometown

Did you think I was blind deaf and dumb

I’m not afraid of what you think

Now I know there’s no place like numb
