It was a tough year for WNC. We’re not in the clear by a long-shot, but we do what we can to make our little corner a bit better. “Temporary Bridges” was recorded for Acoustic Fire, a compilation of original acoustic music from local and regional Asheville artists benefiting those affected by Hurricane Helene. All proceeds donated to BeLoved Asheville.
“Previously I posted a live take from the day I wrote the song, this one”Temporary Bridges” was recorded at beautiful Echo Mountain Studios here in Asheville, NC. A full band version will be on my next full-length album.
A bright silver lining to Hurricane Helene’s darkest clouds has been how our little mountain community has come together to help each other out regardless of background or politics. We started rebounding together before the last raindrop fell. I pray this camaraderie holds up over the foreseeable future.
Temporary mountains, temporary bones
Temporary neighbors in temporary homes
Temporary bridges, temporary repairs
No time for sorrow when you’re temporary there
Take me down to the river, baptize me there
Put your hand on the bible, temporarily swear
Temporary promises, temporary prayers
Life is a highway temporarily there
Temporary mountains, temporary bones
Temporary counting on temporary homes
Temporary bridges, temporary repairs
No time for sorrow when you’re temporary there
Well the water’s no good and the cupboards went bare
They held a town meeting in the Black Mountain square
Temporary leaves falling from temporary trees
I hear a voice calling from under the eaves
Temporary mountains, temporary bones
Temporary children from temporary homes
Temporary bridges, temporary repairs
Until tomorrow temporarily there
