Well Congregation, stand up and give yourself a round of applause. With a few days left still to go, we’ve exceeded our goal of $6,000! This means all initial expenses will be paid, I can put the album out on vinyl and do a little touring too.
I will be able to make this record because a handful of you decided that the music I write and record has meaning to you. Without this Kickstarter campaign, my budget would be the limit of an already stretched credit card – the same one that pays my light bill.
I’m not on a record label. I don’t have a publicist that puts my name in front of influential music personalities and hundreds of thousands of potential fans. My music and I will not come evangelizing to your door and I doubt you were cajoled into the congregation. Chances are, if you’re a fan, it’s because this music speaks to you personally.
I want to say it again: I will be able to make this record because a handful of you decided that the music I write and record has meaning to you. That fact is incredibly humbling and throws fuel on my fire to keep doing what I do in the public realm.
So now we are both invested. I promise you, my heart and soul will go into this record. But you knew that already, didn’t you?
